Fall Migration Has Begun
As many of you have probably noticed, the birds are beginning to flock and head south. We are gearing up for our Fall Banding Season. Be sure to check the calendar for banding dates, and bring the family out!
Bring Your Classes to the Banding Stations
As the new school year starts, don’t forget to include a trip to one of our bird banding stations. Classes learn about conservation and avian migration as well as habitats and climate changes. We can accommodate many of the state education standards in our discussions with classes from K-12. Many students conduct their own research projects and learn how to do point counts and transects. For more information, send us an email.
Bird Feeder Time
Don’t forget to thoroughly clean out your bird feeders before adding new feed this Fall. Many feeders get damp over the summer and may have mold growing in them. Talk to your local bird seed supplier for tips on mixing up just the right blend of bird seed for your area. Feeders in wooded areas will attract different birds than those located in yards with no trees.
